H O M E A W A Y R E S O R T COP15 edition

STARTINGPOINT
Home Away Resort is a meeting place and a temporary lodging experience during ten days of winter 2009. Collaborating with the New Life Copenhagen and the matching system of guests and hosts in Copenhagen during COP15 we involved seven hosts and guests in seven homes to explore new ways of creating an exchange between people from all over the world. The Resort is focusing on the small scale encounter in a kitchen or living room filled with discussions and reflections on the future of the globe as well as the taste of a Thai green curry or the smell of snow.

HOME AWAY RESORT COPENHAGEN,hosts/hosts

December 7-18 2009:

ANETTE opened her home for MATT
JESSICA opened her home for JENNIFER
ELNA opened her home for JULEY
MIKKEL opened his home for RICHARD
MORTEN opened his home for ANNELI
HELLE opened her home for FATIMA
ELISABET opened her home for RAKETA

ACTIVITIES @ THE RESORT:

> First day HOST & GUEST got a Welcome kit
> Every day HOST & GUEST got TASKS to experience & to solve together: published on the BLOG day by day.

TASKS

1. Give your host a guided tour through his/hers home. Describe what you see. Tell your host/guest, take a photo and describe why it makes you happy.
2. Write a post at the blog (http://homeawayblog.blogspot.com/) on your thoughts about the two items in the gift bag...what do they symbolize for you – how do you relate to them? Take a picture where you both interact with the items and put it up on the blog.
3. Formulate a question together with your host/guest.
4.Go to a public meeting place, pick a person, and ask your question from yesterday. Go home and share the answer with your host/guest.
5. Take a photo of something, or someone in your environment and describe it with one word. Share it with your guest/host.
6. Book a private home cook for one night. Dinner all-inclusive. Talk to your guest/host and come back to us with a day, and time proposal.
7. Take a walk, and document it.
8. Answer Torvald’s BIG question. (”How do you expect what you get and how do you get what you expect?”) Discuss it with your host/guest.
9. What makes you happy now? Tell your host/guest.
10. Home Away Lobby Party - 13 dec

> A room-service dinner was offered to all GUEST & HOSTS: an extended meetingplace with fantastic food made by Nongkran Panmongkol (GUEST CHEF/ARTIST @ HOME AWAY RESORT) & nice and interesting talk with HOST & GUEST and - in some cases -  invited FRIENDS.
> a COOKBOOK/GUIDEBOOK will be produced with all the material collected from GUESTS & HOSTS at the resort, including recepies, conversations, questions, maps, pictures. The book is coming up in the beginning of year 2010 as a memory of ten december-days in Copenhagen 2009 as well as a manual for a HOME AWAY RESORT WHEREVER!

See You all soon in a Home Away Resort close to you!

Home Away Resort is produced by Raketa and Awnic Interaction design (www.awnic.se) in collaboration with Damanco (www.damanco), Triple E, and School of Education (Department of Science, Environment, Society), Malmö University (www.mah.se).

r a k e t a has infiltrated the NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN matching system and selected ten hosts and guests for their exclusive Home Away Resort. Here the roles of home and away are investigated and turned upside down. Raketa travels to Copenhagen to meet the participants and throughout the conference period provides them with instructions and special services that will make the guests feel at home and make the hosts feel like being in their own homes for the first time.

We are happy to invite you to HOME AWAY RESORT.

HOME AWAY RESORT is an exclusive service available only to 10 guests and 10 hosts participating in NEW LIFE COPENHAGEN. In HOME AWAY RESORT, guests and hosts are assisted by us during your meeting.

The aim of the project is to collect and communicate our dreams and visions for the future.

What will happen?

The r a k e t a t e a m will make you an agent of change! You will meet other participants, receive special invitations and together explore the way we look at the world through everyday actions

When?

  1. Wouldn't it be a good idea to let the different
participants present themselves in a short text + perhaps a picture here in the blog? So that we know who we all are right from the start? Just a thought...:-)!

  2. Today's best tips!

I have an acquaintance / activist friend from Lund, a wise guy called Oleg Izyumenko. He's present in the Bella Center althrough COP15, as a Nordic youth climate delegate. For a greater insight in the climate issues I recommend You to follow his experiences and actions during COP15 through reading different blogs and/or twitter.
